: I hope this is the right category for the problem I need help with. It states to find the value for the function and the question is:
Find f(2) when F(x) = *x2-5 over x+3
* x2 in this case represents x squared (Can't find the symbol used in the above example). From other homework, my solution is to place the equation as: x2-5 = x+3 (2) and solve from there, only multiplying the dominator by the function of x. I come up with
x2-2x-11=0 is the quadratic formula necessary to figure x. Please provide help!
This question is not from a textbook, but I did put in the barcode of textbook used.

Answer by Nate(3500) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f(x) = (x^2 - 5)/(x + 3)
f(2) = (2^2 - 5)/(2 + 3) = (4 - 5)/(2 + 3) = -1/5
Also, this shows when for the graph of , .
Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Given:
Find f(2): All you have to do is replace the x in the first function with 2.
Simplify.
P.S. Use the caret symbol (^) to indicate raising to a power.
x-squared would be entered as x^2
