Question 46856: from the information given providing values of f(x) and g(x), evaluate
(f o g)^ -1 (3).
x f(x) g(x)
1 5 4
2 3 5
3 5 1
4 1 3
5 2 2
a. 1
b. 2
c. 4
d. 5
i came up with (d) as my answer, because when x=3 fx=5 so i go to the table and look at 5, and see gx=2 so i then go back to the table for 2 and find g(x)=5
d=5
Answer by adamchapman(301) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(f o g)^ -1 (3)
is the same as (f(g(x)) reversed. ( the ^-1 represents the inverse (reversed) funcion, not 1/(f(g(x))) ).
We can now say:
(from the table)
So .
I hope this helps,
Adam
