Use the product of the denominators, that always works.
2*5*6 = 60
y-3/2 +y/5 =3- y+1/6
Do you mean (y-3)/2 +y/5 =3- (y+1)/6 ?
30*(y-3) + 12y = 180 - 10*(y+1)
If so,
30y-90 + 12y = 180 -10y-10
42y - 90 = 170 - 10y
52y = 260
y = 5
