Question 459812: (5)/(2x) - (4)/(x) = -3
how do i solve the equation and show my work?
Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5/(2x) - 4/x = -3
2x[5/(2x) - 4/x = -3] {multiplied entire equation by LCD, 2x, to clear fractions}
2x(5/2x) - 2x(4/x) = 2x(-3) {multiplied each term by 2x}
5 - 8 = -6x {cancelled and multiplied what's left}
-3 = -6x {subtracted on left side}
x = 1/2 {divided both sides by -6}
