Question 453671: I am having trouble with this word problem:
How many quarts of a 20% alcohol solution and how many quarts of pure alcohol should be mixed together to obtain 100 quartz that contain 30% alcohol?
I have .20(x+.20)
but I do not think that this is write.

Alcohol 20 ----------------x quartz
Pure Alcohol 100 ----------------100-x quartz
Mixture 30.00% ---------------- 100

20x+100(100-x)= 30*100
20x+10000-100x= 3000
20x-100 x=3000-10000
-80x = -7000
/-80
x=87.5 quartz 20.00%
12.5 quartz 100.00%
