Question 453096: How do you graph this function f(x)=-2x+9
how do you determine what to put in your table to plot points. confused, my graph is going in opposite direction of what the book is telling me. Can you help
Not sure how to work out problem
I was using
2,1,0,-1,-2 as starting point for plotting my ordered pairs but does it matter if the line is going in opposite direction

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How do you graph this function f(x)=-2x+9
---
You only need 2 points to graph a line.
If x = 0, you get y = 9, so you have point (0,9)
--------------
If x = 2, you get y = -4+9 = 5, so you have point (2,5)
----------------------------------
Graph:

------------------------------------
How do you determine what to put in your table to plot points.
You may choose any values you want for "x". "y" will be
determined by using the equation.
---------------------------
Does it matter if the line is going in opposite direction.
Yes
