d = n + 5
:
if three is added to both numerator and denominator the number becomes 1/2.
=
Cross multiply
2(n+3) = d + 3
2n + 6 = d + 3
2n = d + 3 - 6
2n = d - 3
Replace d with (n+5)
2n = (n+5) - 3
2n - n = 5 - 3
n = 2
then
d = 2+5
d = 7
