and y = 70 when x = 7
y = kx
70 = k*7
10 = k, the variation constant
y = 10x, the equation of variation

You have two types of variation direct and indirect
direct variation y=kx y moves with a multiple of x
In your case y=70 x=7 so 70=k*7 or k=10 so if x=8 y-10*8
