how do you solve -5x-(2x+3) is greater than or equal to 1? I have tried practically everything!!! Please help!!!
-5x - (2x + 3) ≥ 1
-5x - 2x - 3 ≥ 1 {distributed the negative sign}
-7x - 3 ≥ 1 {combined like terms}
-7x ≥ 4 {added 3 to both sides}
x ≤ -4/7 {divided both sides by -7}
- Whenever you multiply or divide both sides by a negative number,
you have to change the inequality sign.
