The rational root theorem states that if a polynomial + ... + has a rational root, then it must be in the form +- a/b, where a is a factor of and b is a factor of . So, if +- a/b is a rational root for your given polynomial, it might be -12/3 or 6/1 or whatever...you can try plugging in a few possible rational numbers for yourself.
