Question 390077: -|x-1| > y - 5
Graph the absolute value inequality.

Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-|x-1| > y - 5
Add 5 to both sides
5 - |x-1| > y
we can write it like this and graph it; substitute values of x
y < 5 -|x-1|
:

shade the area below the line
:
You can check this by finding the x intercepts
5 - |x-1| = 0
-|x-1| = 5
-x + 1 = 5
-x = 5 - 1
-x = 4
x = -4
and
-x + 1 = -5
-x = -5 - 1
-x = -6
x = +6
