Question 382069: 5(x+4)/x^2+x-12 sketch graph, identify intercept?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5(x+4)/x^2+x-12 sketch graph, identify intercept?
----
Modify:
f(x) = [5(x+4)/(x+4)(x-3)]
---
You may think that y = 0 when x = -4.
But f has a hole at x = -4 so there is no x-intercept.
-----
If x = 0, y = [5*4/4*-3] = 20/-12 = -5/3
so there is a y-intercept at y = -5/3
---------------------------------------------
Note that there is a vertical asymptote at x = 3
Note that the horizontal asymptote is y = 0
