Question 363138: How do I write the equations of the line, in slope-intercept form,

Y=mX+b is the linear equation.
A) which goes through points (3,-5) and (-3,3).
m=(Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1)
m=(3+5)/(-3-3)
m=8/-6=-4/3 ans. for the slope
-5=-4/3*3+b
-5=-4+b
b=-5+4
b=-1 ans. for the Y intercept.
y=-4x/3-1
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, -4x/3 -1).
B) is perpendicular to y = -3/2x - 5 ( red line) and passes throu the point (6,1)
A perpendicular line will have a slope=2/3.
1=2/3*6+b
1=4+b
b=1-4
b=-3 ans. for the Y intercept.
y=2x/3-3 (green line).
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 8, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions -3x/2 -5 and 2x/3 -3).
