Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how can you tell if y=9x-2 is a function?
----
graph it and see if it passes the vertical line test.
If x = 0, y = -2, giving you the point (0,-2)
If x = 1, y = 7, giving you the point (1,7)
Plot the two points and draw a line thru them.
----
----
Vertical line test.
If every vertical line intersects the graph only once
the equation is a function.
