on cross multipication we get,,,
7x = 12x + x^2
put together like variables and we get...
0 = 12x - 7x + x^2
0 = 5x + x^2
taking x as common , we get.....
0 = x (5+x)
now either x = 0 or (5+x) = 0
therefore the values of x are 0 and -5
