Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I need help to figure out how to solve this:
6y/y+5 + 1=
---
6y/(y+5) + 1
---
lcd: y+5
---
Rewrite each term with the lcd as its denominator:
-----
6y/(y+5) + (y+5)/(y+5)
----
Combine the numerators over the lcd:
---
=[6y + y+5]/(y+5)
---
Simplify the numerator:
= (7y+5)/(y+5)
