subtract 3x
add 3
divide by 6

3x-2-9x=-3
-6x-2=-3
-6x-2+2=-3+2
-6x=-1
-6x/-6=-1/-6
x=1/6
3x-2=9x-3
3(1/6)-2=9(1/6)-3
3/6-2=9/6-3
1/2-2=3/2-3
1/2-2=11/2-3
.5-2=1.5-3
-1.5=-1.5
