i am not quite sure what your question is... you seem to have 3 parts to it, with 2 equals signs. Please confirm that this is correct.

Looking at it, i think you meant to type the following:

(r+2) = 2(r+1)
r+2 = 2r+2
2 = r+2
0 = r

so, answer is r=0
