g(x)= 9x^4 - 8x^2 - 9x - 5

Use synthetic division to evaluate g(4) and g(5).
g(x)= 9x^4 - 8x^2 - 9x - 5
--------------
For g(4), you sub 4 for x. I don't see how synthetic, or any sort of division, has anything to do with that.
g(4) = 9*256 - 8*16 - 9*4 - 5
g(4) = 2304 - 128 - 36 - 5
g(4) = 2135
-----------
Do the same with 5.
