6+5%2Fy = y-2%2Fy
First get like terms together, so subtract y from both sides;
6+5%2Fy-y=y-2%2Fy-y
6+5%2Fy-y=-2%2Fy
Now subtract 5y from both sides;
6+5%2Fy-y-5%2Fy=-2%2Fy-5%2Fy
6-y=-7%2Fy
Multiply -y to both sides;
6-y(-y)=-7%2Fy(-y)
-6y+y%5E2=7
Now subtract 7 from both sides;
y%5E2-6y-7=0
Factor;
(y-7)(y+1)=0
y-7=0 y+1=0
y=7 or y=-1
