: 52) a+4 a+4
------=-----
2 a
I can't remember how to figure this one out and the examples from the book aren't making it any easier for me. I am not sure if i am suppose to find a common denominator which i would think would be 2a and then times each one by the one that would make the denominator 2a.
thank you so much

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a+4 a+4
------=-----
2 a
-----------------------------
least common denominator = 2a
------------------------
Rewrite each fraction with the lcd as its denominator:
---
[a(a+4)/lcd] - [2(a+4)/lcd]
---
Combine the numerators over the lcd:
-----
[a^2+4a -2a - 8]/lcd
---
[a^2 + 2a - 8]/[2a]
