Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a+4 a+4
------=-----
2 a
-----------------------------
least common denominator = 2a
------------------------
Rewrite each fraction with the lcd as its denominator:
---
[a(a+4)/lcd] - [2(a+4)/lcd]
---
Combine the numerators over the lcd:
-----
[a^2+4a -2a - 8]/lcd
---
[a^2 + 2a - 8]/[2a]
