Question 194944: I have checked over these problems more than once and each time wrong. Could you tell me if they are correct.
1. Darla is building a new desk. To make sure she had made a square corner, she measures 5ft. from the corner along one edge and 4ft. from the corner along the other edge. How long should the diagonal be between those two points if the corner is a right angle?
Diagonal=__ft. My answer 6.4ft.
2. Guy wire. How long is a guy wire reaching from the top of a 15-ft pole to a point on the ground 10 feet from the pole?
What is the exact length?
__feet. My answer 18.028
What is the length approximated to three decimal places?
__feet. (Round to the nearest thousandth)

I have checked over these problems more than once and each time wrong. Could you tell me if they are correct.
1. Darla is building a new desk. To make sure she had made a square corner, she measures 5ft. from the corner along one edge and 4ft. from the corner along the other edge. How long should the diagonal be between those two points if the corner is a right angle?
d^ = 4^2 + 5^2 = 41
d = sqrt(41) = 6.4 feet
Diagonal=__ft. My answer 6.4ft.

2. Guy wire. How long is a guy wire reaching from the top of a 15-ft pole to a point on the ground 10 feet from the pole?
What is the exact length?
l^2 = 15^2 + 10^2 = 325

__feet. My answer 18.028
What is the length approximated to three decimal places?
= ~ 18.028
__feet. (Round to the nearest thousandth)
