I know this problem uses a^2 + b^2 = c^2 and so far I have c^2=10^2 = 100. Whats next?

Ok so far: and c is the diagonal of the square.
The sides of the square are equal, so when you write: the a and b are equal, so you can write:
or
Substitute
Divide both sides by 2.
Take the square root of both sides.




The length of the sides of the square are each exactly inches or approximately 7.1 inches.
