Let's do your problem working backwards from your answer.

Apply FOIL:

x%5E2-x%2B2x-2

x%5E2%2Bx-2 which is not the same thing as x%5E2-x-2

You did get the numbers correctly, that is the 2 and the 1, but you have the signs reversed. Apply FOIL to %28x-2%29%28x%2B1%29 and see what I mean.

For the other one, let's check your answer again by applying FOIL:
%282x%2B3%29%28x-1%29

2x%5E2-2x%2B3x-3=2x%5E2%2Bx-3. Again, you have the same problem. The sign on the x%5E1 term is incorrect. What do you think was wrong this time?
