Without any instruction on HOW to find the answer, I would graph the function using a graphing calculator or some other graphing utility.
That graph shows the function is always increasing on the given interval; so the minimum and maximum values on the interval are f(1) and f(8).
Those values of x give you "nice" answers for f(1) and f(8); I leave the calculations to you.
You could also use differential calculus to show that the derivative of the function is always positive on the given interval, again leading to the conclusion that the numbers you are looking for are f(1) and f(8).
In fact if you use calculus to find the derivative of the function, you will find it is EVERYWHERE increasing....
