Question 1136628: What is the end behavior of the following function f (x) = (2 − x)^7?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
as x gets more negative, 2-x gets more positive, therefore the function will be positive on the left.
ax x gets more positive, 2-x gets more negative, therefore the function will be negative on the right.
that's because the exponent is odd.
if the exponent were even, like (2-x)^8, then the function would be positive on both ends.
here's what the functions look like.
first (2-x)^7, then (2-x)^8
