Remember, the digits after the decimal place are tenths, hundredths, thousandths, etc...
So .22 is 22 hundredths which is written as . So this means that 1.22 is the fraction
Start with the given mixed number
Multiply the denominator 100 by the whole number 1 to get 100
. Add 100 to the numerator 22 to get 122. This final result is the new numerator
Place the new numerator over the same denominator
So the mixed number is equivalent to the improper fraction
So 1.22 can be written as
