Question 1084209: Function: (x^2+x-12)/(x^2-4)
Identify horizontal asymptote, vertical asymptote, x-intercepts, and holes. If possible, graph.
Thanks!
I have horizontal asymptote as y=1 and vertical asymptote as x=+/-2. I am having the most trouble with graphing.

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
horizontal asymptote is at x=1, because x^2/x^2 is the function at large values of x.
vertical asymptotes at +2 and -2, because that is where the denominator equals 0.
(x+4)(x-3)/(x+2)(x-2) is factored form.
No holes.
Roots are at x=-4 and x=3, because the numerator is 0 AND the denominator is not 0.
