Question 1027164: Could someone please tell me the correct way to describe end behavior? The function is y=-4/x+1 +3 (-4 over x+1, +3). I am supposed to describe the end behavior of the function as absolute value x increases without bound. y=3, but I'm not sure how I should state the end behavior? Thanks!
Answer by josgarithmetic(39621) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The end behavior is how does y tend as x becomes increasingly negative without bound; and how does y tend as x becomes increasingly positive without bound?
The limit of y as x tends toward negative infinity is 3.
The limit of y as x tends toward infinity is 3.
We say, "tends", because infinity or negative infinity is not a number, so x does NOT approach infinity; it can only tend toward infinity.
