The directions say to solve the rational equation and to find the excluded values and LCD.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 = .
When you have a rational equation like this, multiply both sides by the common denominator to rid off denominators.
In this case multiply both sides by 4x. You will get
48 + 3x = 6x,
48 = 6x - 3x,
48 = 3x,
x =  = 16.
Please check yourself that the solution is correct.
