I think the slash should be a pipe, but that would be read as "the range is the set y such that y cubed minus 7"; however, that sentence makes no sense.
I believe it may be a misprint from the teacher which should be written as "R : {y | y >= 7}". Is there any notation which could justify the previously defined range?

Assuming that / should be a |, because y^3 - 7 is not a statement, it makes no sense.
