1. a diver descends 10 ft in 16 sec. What is the rate of descent in feet per second?
2. An 18-oz jar of blackberry jam is on sale for $4.50. find the unit price in dollars per ounce.
3. Determine whether the pairs 10,8 and 38, 26 are proportional.

What I tried:
Since it took 30 min for both to mow the lawn, I figured it would take stan to do 1/2 the lawn in 20 min, and hilda 10 min. so it would take stan 40 min to do the lawn alone. but nope, wrong answer :(

My personal example:
It takes me 3.5 hours in 1 day to do my weekly house cleaning chores.
It takes my mother 4-5 hrs a day for 4 days to do her
housecleaning chores for the week.

a. Write an equation that gives the total number of square feet y as a function of the number of minutes x it takes to paint all of the walls.
b. How long will it take you and your friend to finish painting?
I was thinking for part a - y=4x + (3x-45) but I don't think that is right.
