let x, y be length of two segments
x+y=24
x=3y-4
substitute x=3y-4 in x+y=24
(3y-4)+y=24
4y-4 = 24
4y=24+4
4y =28
y= 28/4
y=7
x=3*7-4
x=21-4
= 17
Result : length of two segments = 17 cm , 7 cm
