time = x-1 hrs/job ; rate = 1/(x-1)job/hr

time = x hrs/job ; rate = 1/x job/hr

time = 7 hrs/job ; rate = 1/7 job/hr

find the time that the hose can complete the job alone and the time that the inlet pipe can complete the job alone.

rate + rate = together rate
1/(x-1) + 1/x = 1/7

14x - 7 = x^2-x
