t = w/r

r = 8/24 + 3/24
r = 11/24
t = 1/r
t = 24/11
t = 2.18 hours

Dan can tile a floor in 3 hours. His assistant could tile the same floor in 8
hours. If they work together, how long will it take to tile the floor?
Two ways to do it, with or without algebra. 

Here's how to do it easily without algebra, just basic math only.

If they could work together for 24 hours, Dan would tile 8 floors and his
assistant would tile 3 floors, or 11 floors in 24 hours or 1 floor in 24/11
hours or 2 2/11 hours.
