Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Car I speed x mph
Car II speed 5 faster x + 5 mph
Car I speed 130 miles
Car II speed 130 miles
Car I time = Car II time+1/6
t=d/r
130 / x = 130 /( x + 5 )+1/6
130 / x - 130 /( x + 5 )=1/6
multiply equation by 6x(x+5) LCM of denominator
130*6(x+5)-130*6x=6x(x+5)/6
780x +3900-780x=x^2+5x
x^2+5x-3900=0
x^2+65x-60x-3900=0
x(x+65)-60(x+65)=0
(x+65)(x-60)=0
x=60
speeds of cars are 60 & 65 km/h
