Question 900492: If can A can fill a tank of water in 8 hours and can b can fill that same tank in 5 hours. How long doesit ttake the two pumps working together to fill the tank?
Answer by JulietG(1812)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A takes 8 hours for 1 tank
B takes 5 hours for 1 tank
That means it takes them 13 hours to fill 2 tanks together.
Divide by 2 to get 1 tank average.
13/ 2 = 6.5
Now divide by 2 again since they are filling it together.
6.5/2 = 3.25 hours
