Hi,

A bath tub can be filled in 8 minutes but it takes the tub 12 minutes to drain.

 If the tub has the faucet on and the drain open, how long  will it take to fill?

 1/8 - 1/12 = 1/x      |Multiplying thru by 48x so as all denominators = 1

  6x - 4x = 48

    2x = 48

     x = 24min
