Distance=1800 mi ; Rate = 4x mph ; Time = d/r = 1800/4x = 450/x hrs.

Distance=300 mi ; Rate = x mph ; Time = d/r = 300/x hrs.

EQUATION:
time + time = 5 hrs.
450/x + 300/x = 5
90/x + 60/x = 1
x=150 mph
4x= 600 mph (jet plane rate)
