Question 819244: A man sold x number of books for $132, and then he sold (x-1) books for $132 but he increased the price each book by $1. Find the value of x ?
Answer by richwmiller(17219)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
xy=132,
(x-1) *(y+1)=132
xy+x-y-1=132
xy=132
x-y-1=0
x-y=1
x=y+1
y*(y+1)=132
y^2+y-132=0
(y+12)*(y-11)
y=11
x=12
