if it takes one guy 6 hours to fix a bike and it takes another guy 8 hours, and the 6 hour guy worked on a bike for 2 hours, how long would it take the 8 hour guy to finish the job
***
work rate of 1st guy=1/6
work rate of 2nd guy=1/8
let x=time for 8-hr guy to finish the job

4(x+2)+6=24
4x+8+6=24
4x=10
x=2.5
time for 8-hr guy to finish the job=2.5 hrs
