Question 757521: 12 men alone can complete a piece of work in six days, whereas 10 men and 21
women take three days to complete the same piece of work. In how many days
can 12 women alone complete the same piece of work?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
12 men alone can complete a piece of work in six days, whereas 10 men and 21
women take three days to complete the same piece of work. ------
# of man-days to do the job: 6*12 = 72
Each man does 1/72 job per day
---
Let women's rate be "w".
3[21w + 10(1/72)] = 1 job
21w + (5/36) = 1/3
21w = (12/36)-(5/36)
21w = 7/36
w = 1/108 job/day
-----
In how many days can 12 women alone complete the same piece of work?
Solve:
12(1/108)x = 1
Ans: x = 108/12 = 9 days
----------
