1/24th of the wall gets built each day, by 6 men. so each man is contributing a 6th of the 1/24th ie, 1/144th. in other words, each man builds 1/144th of a wall a day. with 8 men, 8/144th of the wall gets built per day. this simplifies to 1/18th of a wall (gets build per day by 8 people). thus the wall will be finished in 18 days

N1 x D1 = N2 x D2
Where N1 and N2 are the number of mens & D1 and D2 are the number of days.
N1 = 6, D1 = 24, N2 = 8, D2 = ?
Put D2 = X
N1 x D1 = N2 x X
X = (N1 x D1)/ N2
X = (6 x 24 )/ 8
X= 18 days
