larger hose rate: 1/(3x) job/hr
smaller hose rate: 1/x job/hr
together rate (1/(1/4)) 4 job/hr
Equation:
rate + rate = together rate
1/3x + 1/x = 4

1 + 3 = 12x
x = 4/12
x = 1/3 hr (time for the larger hose to do the job)
