Question 725074: Two pipes fill the water tank within 6 hrs and 40min,find the time Each pipe takes to fill the tank if one pipe fill the tank 3hrs less than the other
Answer by josgarithmetic(39627)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Slow pipe rate = jobs per hour
Fast pipe rate = jobs per hour
Slow plus Fast pipes at same time rate = jobs per hour

The rates for each pipe are additive while they both work simulteneously. Solve first for t based on that. You can then know the rate for the slow pipe and can easily compute the rate for the fast pipe.
