Question 723708: Jake can unload a delivery truck in 40 minutes, and Jennie can unload the same truck in 60 minute. How long would it take Jake and Jennie to unload the truck together?

This is a uniform rates, work or job problem.
Jake's rate plus Jennie's rate is equal to the sum of their rates working together.
The job is "unload the truck". Jake goes at 1/40 jobs per minute and Jennie goes at 1/60 jobs per minute. If Jake and Jennie both work at this task at the same time, their combined rate is jobs per minute. Basic arithmetic will render the value. If you want how many minutes per job, then find the reciprocal.
