Your weekly paycheck is 15% less than your neighor's paycheck. The two paychecks total $1125. Find the amount of each paycheck.
I can't get past: 1125=x+.15x. Is this the way to start the problem?
--------------
I don't think that will work.
-----------------
P = neighbor's amount
15% less makes yours 85% of P, = 0.85P
-----
P + 0.85P = 1125
1.85P = 1125
P = 1125/0.85 = $608.11
----
85% of P = $516.89
