add the rate at which the pool is filled and
subtract the rate at which it is emptied to get
the rate with both hoses open.

rate for intake hose = ( 1 pool filled ) / ( 9 hrs )
rate for outtake hose = ( 1 pool emptied ) / ( 12 hrs )
