x+y=1520............(1)
Three times the smaller is equal to two times the larger
3x=2y
x=2/3(y)
x=2y/3............(2)
Put the value of x in (1)
x+y=1520............(1)
2y/3+y=1520
Take LCD on LHS
(2y+3y)/3=1520
5y/3=1520
5y=1520*3
5y=4560
5y/5=4560/5
y=912
Put the value of y in (2)
x=2y/3............(2)
x=2(912)/3
x=1824/3
x=608
So numbers are 912 and 608
